Dr. Oluwatumininu (Tumi) Johnson M.D., is a holistic medical doctor and dancer.

As a physician, she is board certified in both Internal Medicine as well as Integrative Holistic Medicine, and an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, who runs a part time private integrative holistic medical practice that blends her expertise in diagnostic medicine, yoga, and nutrition.

She graduated Vanderbilt University Medical School, receiving the honor of her school’s Kaufman Prize in Medicine for “humaneness and unselfish service in medicine,”  and completed her medical residency at NYU with a focus on Internal Medicine/Primary Care.  She received special training in psychosocial health care at that time.

As a physician, Dr. Johnson has worked in many clinical settings. A graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, she also worked with Doctors Without Borders in West Africa for close to a year, helping to run nutrition hospitals there.  She has also done medical volunteer work in Haiti, the Amazon, and Kenya, among other places.

Tumi has been a yoga practitioner for over 20 years, and completed her yoga teacher training with YogaWorks.  She also works a professional African and Contemporary dancer.

As a dancer, Dr, Johnson was part of the New York City based contemporary dance company, Roza, from 2009-2011, after which she moved to Paris and began creating her “poem dances,” solo dance pieces incorporating African and contemporary movement that are crafted from original poetry. The pieces have now been performed in France, Haiti, as well as in several venues throughout the U.S.
